Fiber Splicer
Tachus LLC (“Tachus”) is seeking an outstanding individual to fill the role of Fiber Splicer. Tachus is a fiber broadband internet provider delivering service to the Greater Houston area since 2018. The Fiber Splicer will be joining a team that brings decades of IT, infrastructure, and technology experience with a proven track record of building and growing highly successful businesses.
The ideal Fiber Splicer candidate should be an experienced, highly organized, and energetic self-starter with a successful track record of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Fiber Splicer will coordinate, and lead Tachus’ buried fiber optic network construction efforts. Key areas of focus will prepare fiber sheaths, splice and test individual fibers and properly dress and secure fibers with fiber optic enclosures. These roles and functions will evolve over time as the company grows, and Tachus is looking for a Splicer who will grow with the company.

Responsibilities:
- Fiber Splicer should be able to prep fiber optic cables into new enclosures, splice trays, and fusion splice optic fiber cable ranging from single fiber to 864 count cables.
- Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures including both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber.
- Ability to perform mid sheath fiber entries.
- Able to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier, Power Meter, and Fiber Scope.
- Performs fiber terminations and splices in various environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber, effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to read, understand and update splice documentation and maps as required.
- Perform construction activities, including pulling new cable/fiber through conduits, repairing damaged conduit.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Follow direction(s) specifically delivered from crew leader.
- Understand and follow OSHA safety requirements to complete the job(s) safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate by phone frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to work scheduled on-call
- Must be able to work occasional overtime with/without prior notice.
- 2 years of splicing experience in telecommunications or utility industry preferred.
- 1 to 2 years combination of technical training and/or experience.
- Previous experience in a cable construction environment preferred.
- Must be able to meet physical requirement of the position.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass background and drug screening.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and listen. - While performing duties, the employee will work primarily in the field. The employee will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to dirt, dust, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high noise levels.
- Additional physical activities include, but are not limited to climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and lifting/pulling/pushing up to 50 pounds.
