What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at TAGHLEEF INDUSTRIES?

The Production Manager is responsible for driving results for plant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including Safety and Environmental Standards, Quality Standards, Staffing, Training, Cost Control, Production Output, Absenteeism, Compliance, and Support responsibilities in a 24x7 operation., on-time delivery, communications, etc. The successful individual will lead the overall responsibility for our daily production operation, ensuring a safe and productive work environment for his/her plant.

The Production Manager will assist in the establishment of short-term and long-term goals and partner with all departments to ensure achievement of overall objectives in Safety, Quality, Operations and Finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Focus and re-focus teams on their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), business goals including safety, quality, cost, delivery, absenteeism, training, compliance, on-time delivery, communications, etc.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Coordinate with EHS manager on development and implementation of hazmat procedure and policies.
  • Plan, develop and implement effective safety training for new employee orientation and annual required programs. Ensure qualified “trainers” are in place.
  • Ensure effective training plans are in place for hourly promotions.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
  • Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations.
  • Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans.
  • Quality standards (product quality and product safety) must be maintained with productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Take a leadership role in developing and mentoring all direct reports; conduct performance management reviews and implement development plans.

  • Clearly define responsibilities and expectations for individuals and for team members. Ensure 30, 60, 90 and annual Performance Reviews are given to all employees that accurately reflect performance.
  • Motivate and encourage superior performance.
  • Ensure that our operational disciplines are maintained through Documentation, Training, Compliance and Data driven results.
  • Ensure adequate backfills are trained to cover any absences.
  • Control overtime to Business Plan.
  • Track performance of individual operators- uptime, output, cycles, rejects. Set the standard for all slitters.
  • Track and maintain reclaim inventories and report monthly.
  • Track and report scrap sales monthly.
  • Ensure adequate packaging materials are staged to support the production schedule in all manufacturing areas.

  • Develop step up facilitators on each shift
  • Make continuous improvement apart of mission, driving changes at all levels.
  • Increase profitability through searching out and implementing manufacturing and work processes continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures that all team members are adequately trained and clearly understand the process instructions, ensuring that the process is correctly applied in the right order; avoid taking short cuts that affect the process integrity.
  • Coordinating all support material required by the team as well as, keeping documentation and sharing it with the team.
  • Acting as the focal point of communications of the team, centralizing the information related to the work.
  • Keeping management aware of the plan and team progress, generating high quality reports.
  • Recognizing training needs and providing appropriate training when it is required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred, or at least a minimum 5-7 years of direct related experience in an industrial manufacturing environment and management / leadership role
  • Must be mentally sharp and quick to respond
  • Highly detail-oriented with ability to prioritize tasks independently, accurately complete work under tight deadlines, and provide timely and accurate responses to data requests
  • Strong oral and written communication, and time and project management skills
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and SAP would be a plus
  • Possess a high level of technical expertise, ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
  • Excellent communication skills up and down organizational structure
  • Strong planning, organizational and follow up skills
  • Excellent people and process management skills
