Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for delivering high-quality, individualized care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical procedures. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
The RN must be prepared to manage a broad spectrum of patient conditions and respond quickly to changes in patient status. This position requires a strong commitment to professional standards and adherence to the Texas Nurse Practice Act.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide post-operative care in accordance with PACU protocols and nursing standards.
- Monitor vital signs and patient status post-anesthesia.
- Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams for coordinated care.
- Maintain professional communication with patients and their families.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, hospital surveys, and committee work.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma or Associate Degree).
- No prior experience required – open to new graduates.
- Registered Nurse (RN) – Active Texas license.
- CPR – BCLS
- ACLS & PALS – Required within 30 days of hire.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Must be able to respond within 30 minutes when on call.
