Talmadge Hill Community Church is a progressive, welcoming Christian community nestled at the border of Darien and New Canaan. For over 150 years, our beautiful historic chapel has been a place where all are welcomed to know the love of God and share it. We are a small, intimate congregation (approximately 120 active members) known for our thoughtful worship, inspired music, and commitment to radical hospitality.
Position Overview
We're seeking an organized, welcoming professional to provide essential administrative support for our church operations. This role serves as a key connection point between our minister, staff, board members, and congregation. You'll help keep our church running smoothly through communications, worship support, and general office administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily church communications (email, phone, mail)
- Coordinate and maintain comprehensive church calendar
- Prepare weekly Sunday bulletins and "The Happenings" newsletter
- Provide administrative support for worship services and special events
- Maintain website, database, and filing systems
- Process weekly collections and coordinate with bookkeeper
- Schedule volunteers for Sunday hospitality
- Support minister and staff with meetings and correspondence
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma required; 2-4 years administrative or customer service experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and database management
- Strong communication skills and genuinely welcoming presence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Comfort maintaining confidentiality

Schedule & Availability Requirements
- 12 hours per week
- Sunday morning availability required by agreement
- Required office hours 2 days per week
- Additional availability required for Holy Week/Easter and Christmas Eve preparations
