What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Package Underwriter position at Tangram Insurance Services?
OBJECTIVE:
We are looking for an experienced multi-line underwriter to join our package team to help take it to the next level. You will be part of a dynamic organization that is seeking to scale our programs creatively and robustly, while rewarding individual contributions and encouraging team collaboration. You will be responsible for underwriting middle-market accounts while developing broker/ carrier relationships to help Tangram build a book of business that will achieve growth and profitability.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Performs day-to-day underwriting functions at a mid-experience level.
- Recommends creative alternatives in regard to rating, coverage, etc.
- Engages team to perform clerical and administrative tasks as outlined in workflow documents.
- Maintains underwriting files in accordance with Tangram policies and procedures.
- Utilizes expertise and experience to make sound judgments regarding risk selection and pricing.
- Ensures adherence to underwriting standards, objectives and guidelines of program.
- Develops and maintains effective business relationships with agents and carriers in order to attract, develop and retain profitable business for assigned book of business.
- Understands all programs and products at Tangram to be an effective advocate with the agency community.
- Actively manages program(s) to reach production goal(s)
- Special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-4 years of progressive underwriting experience in package lines of coverage
- Strong communicator
- Ability to work in a team
- Positive attitude towards customer service and relationship management
- Effective analytical and logical reasoning abilities
- Good attention to detail
- Organizational skills and ability to problem solve and multi-task
- Strong personal initiative, ability to work independently
- Desire to have fun and engage with the team
- Solid computer skills and adaptation to new technologies and workflows
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000. The offer will depend on the geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
