Salary: $102,523.20 – $153,774.40 annually


Location: Fort Worth, TX


Position Summary:

Serves as a recognized engineering technical expert for the District in water supply planning. Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of water supply planning principles and practices in guiding analyses, decision-making and recommendations to upper-level management, and project management. Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments. Works on a major project or several projects of moderate to complex scope with complex features.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

· Serve as a technical expert for TRWD in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods related to long-range water supply planning

· Utilize industry experience and knowledge to guide planning efforts, collaborate with stakeholders, and make recommendations to TRWD upper-level management

· Lead an engineering team within Water Resources Engineering, or manage a primary function within Water Resources Engineering

· Assist the District in regional water supply planning efforts and collaboration with other regional partners

· Assist upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor

· Supervise the work of technical specialists and technicians

· Lead or perform tasks related to management of water rights, water use reporting, and water supply contracts

· Assist in the overall water supply management of the TRWD system. Tasks include, but are not limited to, running forecasts, monitoring system storage and customer demands, providing recommendations regarding potential operational changes, and providing updates to TRWD staff and customers

· Effectively use TRWD’s RiverWare models to run analyses evaluating short-term operations planning and long-range water supply planning. Evaluate results of analyses to determine their validity and interpret results to make recommendations to upper-level management

· Effectively collaborate with other TRWD departments to successfully achieve project-specific and District-wide goals

· Perform essential functions and responsibilities of lower-level Engineering positions, or successfully assist with, lead and/or direct others to do so

· Provide direction to Engineering staff in the absence of the Water Supply Manager on an as needed basis

· Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments

· Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance

· Develop new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products

· Prepare proposals to obtain professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs

· Maintain familiarity with strategic District levels of service

· Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts

· Perform other duties as required


Required Experience:

· Eight plus (8 ) years of experience in engineering

· Expertise in long-range water supply planning, including evaluation of potential water supply strategies, as well as strategy implementation recommendations


Desired Experience:

· Experience leading a staff of engineers, technical specialists, and technicians comprising an engineering or project team

· Expertise in water system modeling using RiverWare or similar software

· Experience with the State of Texas Regional Water Planning process


Required Education/Certification/License:

· Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in an applicable engineering discipline from an ABET/EAC accredited program

· Licensed as a Professional Engineer by the State of Texas, or ability to acquire said license within six months if already licensed in another state

· Valid Texas driver’s license


Desired Education/Certification/License:

· Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) or Master of Science (M.S.) in an applicable engineering discipline

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate among various departments within TRWD, as well as with other water agencies in the north Texas region

· Represent the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments
