SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a supply chain role, preferably in a manufacturing setting
- A BS Degree in Business or related field
- Experience within the Aluminum and Electrical Supply Chains
- CPM and Six Sigma Certification highly desirable
- Hands on experience in working with automated inventory control, MRP (Material Requirement Planning)
- Ability to analyze inventory, sales and other data and make long-range projection of materials and parts needs
- Ability to promote harmonious working relationships with supplier representatives, and solve conflicts in a positive manner
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with upper management, handle a high pressure/high volume workload, plan, organize, multi-task, and prioritize workload
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Supply Chain Manager (SCM) develops and leads a team consisting of a Buyer/Planner and Strategic Sourcing Manager. The SCM is responsible for implementing and maintaining robust alternative material replenishment systems that maximize the number of inventory turns while supporting 100% customer on-time delivery and quality and continuous lead-time reduction goals.
Manages, plans and directs the purchasing functions involving the establishment and approval of source of suppliers, materials, equipment and services; processing of requisitions; procurement activities; maintenance of purchasing records; establishment of policies and procedures; and the expediting of shipments.
Develops appropriate supply chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost.
Leads the supply chain team in executing best practices and measuring performance through agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Directs and coordinates global supply chain functions through strategy, resource optimization, profitability maximization, and KPIs resulting in the maximization of customer satisfaction.
Plans, manages, and coordinates all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet the changing levels of product demand.
Works with plant, warehouse, and logistics departments to determine and set up intercompany transfers.
Works directly with sales department to determine most cost-effective distribution solution for finished goods transportation to customers.
Analyzes, forecasts and procures selected commodity items utilizing current material system and past experience.
Participates in the establishment of economic order quantities commensurate with the unit value of items purchased and requirements of production.
Analyzes costs regularly and is responsible for cost reduction and control through new sources of supply; effective negotiations; innovation and modern means of purchasing and the use of outside organizations and affiliations.
Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments, and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities; advises company activities with concurrence of SVP of Operations.
Provides the Sales, Engineering, Production, and Assembly Departments with information regarding the current lead-time on goods.
Reviews and controls inventory to avoid excessive inventory levels. Analyzes part differences after inventory. Works with the Assembly Supervisor to maintain cycle counting procedures.
Analyzes and maintains reorder points and suggested order amounts on fixed items.
Reviews and processes claim against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials, equipment or services.
Adds new suppliers and visits suppliers’ facilities when necessary to qualify them as new sources, and assist in resolution of production, design, quality and/or delivery problems.
Continually develops new sources that meet or exceed Task Force Tips requirements.
Reviews supplier performances on a continuous basis.
Works with sales in the planning and procuring of vehicles for the sales fleet.
Manages and directs assigned personnel including making work assignments, providing training, giving corrective instruction, making recommendations regarding personnel action, discipline and termination, and complying with employee performance management policies and procedures.
Works with Accounting Department to assure the accuracy of transactions entered on the general ledger.
Responsible for the integrity of the purchasing database (part number and description accuracy, supplier and quote files, and open order maintenance.)
