Salary Range:$18.00 To 20.00 Hourly

Title: Insurance Verification Specialist

Location: Atascadero, CA

Schedule: Weekdays, Full-time

Required Education or Experience: High school diploma or higher. Must have medical insurance verification experience.

Compensation: $18-$20/hour plus up to $250/month in productivity bonuses and up to $100/quarter in accuracy bonuses.

Responsibilities

An insurance verification specialist must have experience working with insurance companies, and have extensive knowledge of different types of coverage and policies. This position requires the person to be detail-oriented, organized and to maintain accurate patient insurance records. This professional also serves as a valuable resource to patients, providing them with pertinent information regarding their coverage. They work with patients to explain coverage amounts provided by their insurance policy. The insurance verification specialist also helps patients arrange payment for services that are not covered by their insurance companies, discussing different financing options to fit their budgets.

• Verify health insurance benefits and obtain necessary authorizations either on-line or via telephone.
• Complete insurance verification form (IVF) for each patient.
• Correspond with patients regarding insurance information so they have a clear understanding of their benefits and coverage.
• Answer incoming calls from clinics to discuss patient benefits or clinic schedule changes
• Inputs and scans all insurance information accurately into correct patients account within the used EMR System.
• Miscellaneous administrative duties to support the central verification team.

Skills/Abilities

• A dynamic personality, professional and friendly demeanor and excellent customer service skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google mail, and electronic health records/practice management
• Experience in a medical office, with EMR system and hospitality experience a plus
• Strong understanding of benefits investigating; deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, out of pocket expenses and benefit exclusions
• Ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills

• Paid Time Off We offer 3 weeks or 15 days/year for the first 2 years of employment, 4 weeks or 20 days/year when beginning your third year, 5 weeks or 25 days/year after 10 years of employment. All PTO accrues per pay period to equal these amounts annually. Additionally, we offer selected paid holidays.
