What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Automation Engineer (Life Science Instrument Installation/Service) position at Tecan?
As a field automation engineer (FAE) for Tecan, you will be a core part of our customers' experience. Our FAEs are responsible for the installation, development, and implementation of applications, integrations, mechanical service, customer training, and sales demonstrations of applications on Tecan liquid handling platforms, including EVO and / or FLUENT.
In this role, you will have direct and daily interaction with customers, Sales, and other Field Automation Engineers to resolve problems, offer advice, and provide solutions. There is also interaction with the Operations and QA / RA Departments to aid with customer situations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Performs instrument installation, integration of third-party devices, and development of software applications by writing Evoware and / or Fluent scripts.
- Performs problem diagnosis, service, and preventative maintenance on Tecan instruments.
- Performs complex software application development, including developing liquid classes, and device integration at customer sites.
- Provides customer training on use, application development maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Share information from unique problems or specialized training with the FAE Team and the Tecan organization.
- Performs complex demonstrations and installs.
- Ability and willingness to maintain a travel schedule and to travel on short notice.
- Complete essential service records according to company policy.
- Maintains appropriate parts inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Provides backup service support outside of assigned territory as needed.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
- Handles essential tasks as assigned and responds to change productively.
- Follows all local safety procedures, State and Federal OSHA Regulations, and reports any safety concerns.
