Tectonic is actively seeking a full-time, experienced Staff Surveyor to join the Survey Department of our Corporate Orange County, NY Office. This position offers a motivated candidate with the opportunity to develop into a project management role and the chance to work with state of the art technology! Tectonic recently acquired the Leica Pegasus Mobile LiDAR Road scanner and also owns several terrestrial laser scanners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions of this position include performing and drafting field surveys and office computations using collected data for a variety of sites, including boundary and topography surveys, plans, cross sections, and profiles. The Staff Surveyor will also perform project research of records for deeds, maps, utility information, etc., analyze record and field information for boundary line determinations, compose and review computations, reports, and plats for completeness and accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of combined survey experience, or suitable combination of education and experience;
- Working knowledge of survey practices and computations;
- Comprehensive knowledge of survey equipment, and its operations; experience working with Leica Scanners and software a plus
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2019 or newer, along with functional knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite;
- HS Diploma or equivalent; Surveying Degree a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong problem solving and analytical skills;
- Must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
- Requires a valid driver’s license to perform field site visits.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is often required to remain stationary and regularly perform tasks that require the handling of the equipment relevant to the job and communicate about the same. They will regularly be required to move around the job site, including ascending or descending a ladder, and/or positioning themselves appropriately to access/install, or repair equipment, including, but not limited to: stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and/or squatting. The employee may be exposed to various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, and humidity. In accordance with the level of visual detail required for this position, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this position in order to detect non-conformities. The employee will also need to collect manual data and process computer generated reports. The employee must frequently lift and/or move equipment up to 30 lbs. The employee must occasionally operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and fax machine. This position requires the regular operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.

PAY RANGE
Tectonic’s goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate’s work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000 / year
