Construction Superintendent

The Commercial Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing and overseeing all on-site activities of commercial construction projects. This includes coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Management:
  • Oversee daily construction activities and manage project timelines.
  • Ensure projects are completed according to approved plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and onsite personnel.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and compliance with project requirements.
  • Resolve any on-site issues promptly to avoid project delays.
• Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce all safety regulations and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Ensure all work complies with local building codes, permits, and company standards.
• Quality Control:
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Address any quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Budget and Cost Management:
  • Assist in managing project budgets and controlling costs.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Approve and track change orders.
• Communication and Documentation:
  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports, progress reports, and other required documentation.
  • Document any project changes or issues and report them to the project manager.
• Team Leadership:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the construction team.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Mentor and train junior staff and new hires.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:
  
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Certifications:
  • OSHA certification or other safety training certifications preferred.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work on construction sites, including standing, walking, and climbing for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.

Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily performed on construction sites.
• May require occasional evening and weekend work to meet project deadlines.
