EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; or one-year related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of procedural technique. Understanding of machine function and process capability.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee regularly is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (using a hoist for assistance). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally, the employee is fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Slits approved sheet rubber to a required width.
- Checks roll batch number identification for match with tickets.
- Visually inspects material at all stages of the operation.
- Maintains the quality of the cut of material.
- Loads sheet rubber using a hoist and removes the cut rubber.
- Monitors machine specifications as directed.
- Withholds items that do not meet all requirements
- Promotes safety by:
- Ensuring the housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work area is maintained or improved to the highest level possible.
- Wearing personal protective equipment:
- Eye protection and gloves when dealing with the blades of the slitter.
- Eye protection and dust mask when dealing with powdered materials
- Ensures Quality products and processes are maintained by:
- Understanding and supporting both quality policies and the Quality System.
- Performing work at a level that ensures quality of this position’s work
- Participating in system or quality-based training provided by the company or recommended by the company.
