**SUMMARY: **Evaluates opportunities for major reductions in manufacturing costs through the introduction and use of current technologies. Recommends and implements, where feasible, improvements to production processes, methods and controls.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Designs, details or redesigns tooling, core boxes and/or dies with manufacturability, cost, throughput and lead-time improvements in mind. 2. Completes customer Engineering Change Notices/AMD Engineering Change Requests and incorporates tooling revisions to aid in production, quality improvements and customer revisions. 3. Utilizing company software, adheres to company drafting/modeling/simulation policies and guidelines including but not limited to tolerances, GD&T, and standard practices to meet company objectives for quality and cost. 4. Confers with management or engineering staff to determine and source internal and external suppliers/vendors to support repair, replacement or addition of tooling/fixtures/gages to achieve manufacturing goals and meet customers’ quality and reliability standards 5. Performs internal ISO audits, as assigned. 6. Completes design and development projects by training and guiding team members, making and adhering to project schedules and budgets, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.

Represents Engineering on cross-functional teams. Provides engineering information and technical support to all manufacturing departments by developing and analyzing statistical data to propose quality and process improvements; calculating production, labor and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements; and analyzing work force utilization. Leads projects as assigned.

Leads, assists, and participates in kaizen/continuous improvement events and follow up activities to eliminate waste within the manufacturing process, and improve product quality and employee safety through standardization of work methods, visual factory, 5S, Root Cause Analysis, error proofing, simulation, DOE, and lean manufacturing.

Aids in coordinating quality control objectives and activities to resolve problems, maximize reliability, and minimize cost. Documents quality related problems and continuous improvement efforts, as assigned.

Prepares process sheets, including charts, graphs, and diagrams, to illustrate workflow, routing, floor and equipment layouts, and how materials are handled and how machines are used, to assist manufacturing.

Designs, develops, tests, investigates and recommends, with cost-justification, capital projects that will improve manufacturing methods (Safety/Quality/Cost), and efficiency in the plant.

Keeps professional and technical knowledge current by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and by attending educational workshops/seminars and participating in professional societies, as assigned.

Executes quality control procedures (such as but not limited to SPC, work instructions, FMEA’s, PPAP’s, Gage R&R studies, and control plans) to resolve production problems, minimize cost and ensure that products meet quality standards. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
