- Have a post-high school education.
- Be a certified Ophthalmic Technician
- Have prior work experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Ophthalmic Technician reports to the Technician Supervisor and interacts cooperatively with the patients, physicians, and other clinic personnel. The Ophthalmic Technician must maintain patient confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Records patients’ medical and visual histories.
- Checks patients near and distant visual acuities.
- Performs a variety of visual testing.
- Assists physicians during patient examinations if necessary.
- Educate patients regarding the administration of medications, and pre and post-operative instructions as directed by the physician.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stocks supply within the work area and replenish as needed.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- A technician will be assigned alternate responsibilities on a permanent or intermittent basis.
