Title: Food Service Assistant Team: Conference Centers
Group: Mission Support Work Location: Conference Center
General Classification: Ministry Assistant (Non-Exempt) Part-time
Immediate Supervisor: Food Service Coordinator
Principal Function: Assist Food Service Coordinator in planning, preparing, and presenting food service for camp and conference center guests.
Essential Functions: (Employee must be spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally able to fulfill these assignments and tasks to fill this position.)
- Conduct assigned ministry with “Christ-Like Servant Spirit”, guided by TBMB mission, priorities, strategies, and goals.
- Contribute to all phases of responsibilities to the Mission and Objectives of the organization.
- Exercise discipline to complete tasks and work alone with general supervision.
- Provide support and assistance to assigned group and other groups within the organization, while building and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Work overtime and irregular hours, as necessary.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare savory meals efficiently and in sufficient quantities to satisfy our guests and make them want to return for more.
- Assist Food Service Coordinator with food inventory.
- Ensure all health and safety standards are followed pertaining to the kitchen and dining room.
- Effectively lead kitchen staff in temporary absence of Food Service Coordinator.
- Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.
Physical Requirements for Individual in Position:
- Frequently walks extended distances, stands, and sits, bends, squats, crawls, reaches, kneels, balances, pushes and pulls.
- Frequently lifts and carries up to 34 pounds, occasionally lifts, and carries up to 50 pounds.
- Continually uses manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
- Position requires being around moving machinery and cooking equipment, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to non-toxic aromas and gases.
- Frequently spends time in food preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning areas.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications for Applicants:
Credentials and experience:
- Education: HS diploma or G.E.D. Some culinary training
- Experience: One-year related experience
- Certification: ServSafe food handler required (immediately upon employment)
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of kitchen equipment operation and safety; food preparation, food serving, food safety, and menu planning.
- Knowledge of all Health Department rules and regulations pertaining to food preparation, storage of food, cleaning, and sanitation.
- Ability to coordinate staff and serve large numbers of people.
- Basic computer skills needed, Excel, internet, and food ordering system.
