Nature of Work
The Store Manager plays a pivotal role in driving success of the Tennessee’s Community Assistance Corporation (TCAC) Depot. Individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations, ensuring an exceptional customer experience, and generating revenue to support the organization’s mission. This individual must be a passionate leader, skilled in retail management, and committed to fostering a positive and productive environment for staff and volunteers.
Job performance is evaluated by the Executive Director through a review of the level and quality of service provided to customers, the ability to effectively supervise the activities of assigned staff and ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures, the ability to interact with volunteers, co-workers, and the public, the profitability of Depot operations, ability to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job and accuracy of all monetary and inventory transactions.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, POS system management, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Implement and oversee inventory management processes, including receiving, sorting, pricing, displaying, and managing donation flow and inventory levels.
- Monitor sales performance, analyze data, and implement strategies to achieve sales targets and maximize profitability.
- Handle administrative tasks, including scheduling, reporting, and managing vendor relationships.
- Maintain frequent contact and serves as a liaison with partner agencies.
- Follow and enhances safety standards and practices in the warehouse and retail store.
- Track consumer and market trends in the area to identify the types of merchandise offered at the Depot.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and inviting store environment and maintain attractive product displays.
- Maintain documentation required for Good360.
- Maintain relationship with Good360 and redistribution products (RDPs); arranging pick-ups as needed.
- Performs any other duties as required by the Executive Director.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and develop a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment that promotes engagement and growth.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback to enhance individual and team growth.
- Ensure a strong customer service culture within the store by setting high standards and training the team on best practices for customer interactions and issue resolution.
- Promote and model the mission, values, and ethos of TCAC to both staff and customers.
Financial Management
- Manage store budget, including sales forecasting, expense control, and maximizing profit margins.
- Oversee cash handling, deposits, and ensure accurate financial record-keeping and reporting.
- Implement loss prevention measures and inventory control strategies to minimize waste and shrinkage.
Marketing and Community Development
- Develop and execute marketing and promotional strategies to attract customers and donors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, donors, and volunteers.
- Represent the Depot and TCAC at community events and functions to raise awareness and promote engagement.
- Collaborate with Executive Director to ensure brand consistency and effective communication across all channels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field preferred or proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in retail management or a similar leadership role required.
- Experience working in a nonprofit environment or with a strong understanding of nonprofit principals and goals preferred.
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and retail management software.
- Demonstrated financial acumen and experience with budgeting and managing retail operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays, if needed.
- Ability to perform various physical tasks associated with retail operations.
- Possession of a valid Tennessee driver’s license and the ability to be insured at standard vehicle liability rates.
- Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
