What are the responsibilities and job description for the Canopy Installer position at Tennessee Valley Metals, Inc.?
We are an architectural metal product company currently seeking a dedicated and skilled laborer to join our team. As a “Canopy Installer” you will perform tasks to support the crew in project completion. The ideal candidate has experience working on construction sites and possess a variety of skills such as Operating a scissor lift, Using power tools such as a drill, and an eye for detail on a finished product.
We provide initial training but most training is on the job for our specific process. So a candidate that is dependable and a hands on learner is ideal.
Responsibilities
- Hook up and unhook trailer
- Load and strap materials to transport to project site
- Setup work area, this may include setting up sawhorses, unloading material from trailer to sawhorses, and setting out hardware.
- Prepping material such as predrilling holes, installing corner angles and splices with battery powered drill, and caulking.
- Operate a variety of power tools (Impact Drill, Circular Saw, Reciprocal Saw, etc.)
- Operate scissor/ boom lift
- Be able to lift at least 60lbs
- Able to lift into position and fasten extruded aluminum gutter. This may be using a drill and screwing into the top of a post or beam, using a hammer drill to fasten to concrete wall, or running a lag bolt through a wall into wood blocking.
- Caulk corners, splices, and flashing on walls
- Roof, canopy roofing typically consists of an interlocking aluminum decking that is fastened with screws to the gutter. Majority of the time we use lifts, on shorter canopies around 8’ tall, we may use ladders.
- Cleans job site at the end of the day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of, materials or equipment are safely stored, and tools are returned to the truck.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Follow Safety Rules
Qualifications
- 1 years experience in a construction laborer role or similar position. (Carpentry and Metal work preferred.)
- Familiarity with construction site protocols and OSHA safety regulations.
- Ability to follow technical instructions accurately.
- Experience operating scissor and boom lifts
- Ability to work 8' or more off the ground
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials as required.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a commitment to completing tasks efficiently and safely.
