General Responsibilities
The successful candidate will conduct initial asbestos and lead building inspections and assist project managers with industrial hygiene inspections. Candidate may further support Phase I environmental site assessments (ESAs) or other environmental projects. Building inspection job duties include collection of field documentation, collection of bulk samples, review of laboratory documents, and data reporting. Job duties with industrial hygiene inspections include performance of noise surveys, radon surveys, microbial investigations with sampling, other personal sampling monitoring such as silica and lead, and data reporting.
Although the primary focus of this position will be asbestos work and industrial hygiene, the support of other environmental work may include Phase I ESAs (with site visits and data review) and testing and sampling of air, groundwater, sediment, and soil.
The candidate will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining field monitoring equipment. Candidate will be required to adhere to strict company health and safety standards.
Essential Role and Responsibilities
- Performing building inspections for asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with AHERA guidelines.
- Sampling of painted coatings (via paint chip or XRF) in commercial and industrial settings.
- Performing standardized and sometimes complex field tests as directed and/or special inspections as required.
- Calibration of field monitoring equipment such as PID or combustible gas indicator.
- Sampling for noise levels within industrial settings.
- Sampling suspect microbial growth.
- Performing indoor air quality assessments.
- Following safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 0-3 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
- Pennsylvania Asbestos Building Inspector
- Pennsylvania Licensed Lead Paint Inspector
- Associates or bachelor's degree in Occupational
- Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related scientific field.
