Commercial Mechanical / Plumbing Estimator – Charlotte or Wendell, NC

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Mechanical / Plumbing Estimator to support preconstruction efforts by developing accurate, competitive estimates for commercial mechanical and plumbing systems. This role focuses on plumbing-heavy scopes while coordinating closely with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning piping and ductwork on larger commercial projects.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience estimating commercial plumbing systems, understands mechanical coordination, and works comfortably with engineers and project managers throughout the bidding process.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate mechanical and plumbing estimates
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for commercial plumbing systems and related piping
• Solicit, review, and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to clarify scope, constructability, and sequencing
• Identify cost drivers, risk items, and value engineering opportunities
• Prepare bid proposals, budgets, and tender submissions
• Maintain historical pricing data and estimating benchmarks
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as required
• Ensure estimates meet internal standards, schedules, and project requirements

Qualifications & Skills

• Five or more years of experience estimating commercial mechanical and plumbing projects
• Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems and mechanical coordination
• Proficiency with Trimble AutoBid and Bluebeam
• Experience with QuickPen Design preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to perform accurate take-offs, labor calculations, and pricing analysis
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and applicable codes
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
