What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Technician position at TESS Electrical Sales & Service?
Senior / Lead Marine Electrical Technician – Troubleshooting Focus
Fort Lauderdale, FL | Full-Time | In-Person
$38–$45/hr DOE
TESS LLC is an elite Marine Electrical Company specializing in complex troubleshooting of large yacht electrical, power distribution, and automation systems. We are typically engaged when systems are critical, problems are unresolved, and accuracy matters.
This is not a routine service or wire-pulling position.
We are seeking experienced Marine Electrical Technicians who thrive on diagnostics, understand electrical theory deeply, and communicate clearly with customers and team members.
What You’ll Be Trusted to Do
• Lead troubleshooting and diagnostics on complex AC/DC electrical systems, switchboards, generators, power management, and automation systems on large yachts
• Diagnose faults methodically and safely, understanding why systems fail — not just restoring operation
• Communicate findings and solutions clearly with captains, management companies, shipyards, and owners’ representatives
• Work collaboratively with Senior Technical Managers, Engineering, and experienced technicians to resolve system-level issues
• Mentor and guide less experienced technicians, sharing knowledge and reinforcing best practices
• Perform limited refit and service work (~20%), with the majority (~80%) focused on true troubleshooting

• No technician is ever penalized for prioritizing safety or quality

• Full-time, in-person role based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
• Candidates must already live in the area or relocate at their own expense
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
• Must hold an unrestricted passport and be eligible for international travel
