Fort Lauderdale, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 1/28/2026 CLOSED ON 2/26/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Technician position at TESS Electrical Sales & Service?

Senior / Lead Marine Electrical Technician – Troubleshooting Focus

Fort Lauderdale, FL | Full-Time | In-Person

$38–$45/hr DOE

TESS LLC is an elite Marine Electrical Company specializing in complex troubleshooting of large yacht electrical, power distribution, and automation systems. We are typically engaged when systems are critical, problems are unresolved, and accuracy matters.

This is not a routine service or wire-pulling position.

We are seeking experienced Marine Electrical Technicians who thrive on diagnostics, understand electrical theory deeply, and communicate clearly with customers and team members.

What You’ll Be Trusted to Do

• Lead troubleshooting and diagnostics on complex AC/DC electrical systems, switchboards, generators, power management, and automation systems on large yachts

• Diagnose faults methodically and safely, understanding why systems fail — not just restoring operation

• Communicate findings and solutions clearly with captains, management companies, shipyards, and owners’ representatives

• Work collaboratively with Senior Technical Managers, Engineering, and experienced technicians to resolve system-level issues

• Mentor and guide less experienced technicians, sharing knowledge and reinforcing best practices

• Perform limited refit and service work (~20%), with the majority (~80%) focused on true troubleshooting

How Troubleshooting Works at TESS

Technicians at TESS are never expected to guess or work in isolation.

When issues escalate, support is provided by:

• Senior Technical Managers

• In-house Engineering

• Highly experienced Marine Electrical Technicians

Complex problems are solved as a team, with shared diagnostics, clear communication, and professional accountability.

Safety & Quality Are Non-Negotiable

• All technicians are fully authorized to stop work if conditions are unsafe or quality standards cannot be met

• Work stoppages are supported and reviewed by our Safety Officer and Technical Management

• No technician is ever penalized for prioritizing safety or quality

Location & Travel

• Full-time, in-person role based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

• Candidates must already live in the area or relocate at their own expense

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required

• Must hold an unrestricted passport and be eligible for international travel

Our technicians are trusted to represent TESS globally on complex, high-profile systems.

Who This Role Is For

• Experienced Marine Electricians or ETOs who prefer troubleshooting over routine installs

• Technicians with strong electrical theory and diagnostic capability

• Professionals recognized as go-to technical resources

• Leaders who value mentoring and raising the standard of the team

• Techs seeking long-term stability in a professional, safety-driven environment

Experience & Background

• 5 years in marine electrical systems (yacht or commercial)

• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to read schematics and understand complex power distribution

• Professional communication skills

Preferred but not required:

• Sea-going ETO / Electrical Engineer background

• Large yacht experience

• Industrial troubleshooting with marine crossover

Compensation & Benefits

• $38–$45/hr, based on experience and troubleshooting capability

• Medical, dental, and vision insurance

• 401(k) with company match

• AFLAC & GAP coverage

• Long-term career growth (average employee tenure: 12 years)

Qualified candidates will be invited to a short technical screening discussion prior to formal interviews.
