Job Title: Certified Special Inspector (ICC)

Salary Range: Based on Experience
Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Certified Special Inspector through the international codes council (ICC) to perform inspection and testing services on construction projects in compliance with applicable building codes, project specifications, and approved plans. The successful candidate will have current ICC certifications and a solid understanding of construction practices, materials testing, and code compliance requirements.
A highly motivated individual could be hired to train and mentor into this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field inspections and observations of construction activities to ensure compliance with the International Building Code (IBC), project specifications, and local codes.
- Document findings in daily field reports and communicate issues to the project team in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct special inspections in one or more ICC certification areas, such as:
- Reinforced Concrete
- Structural Masonry
- Structural Steel and Bolting
- Structural Welding
- Soils and Earthwork
- Fireproofing
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Monitor construction practices and materials for conformance with project standards.
- Coordinate and work closely with contractors, engineers, and local authorities.
- Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports and test results promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Required Certifications: Current ICC certification(s) in at least one relevant discipline (e.g., Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel and Bolting, etc.).
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field a plus.
- 3 years of experience in construction inspection or quality control.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (IBC, ASTM, ACI, AISC, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multiple ICC certifications or ACI, AWS, or other relevant certifications.
- Experience working on large-scale or complex construction projects.
- Familiarity with construction management software and digital reporting tools.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed on active construction sites and may require walking, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and working in varying weather conditions.
- May involve travel to various job sites within the region.
