The Civil Engineer Intern supports the Water team by assisting with engineering design, analysis, and documentation for water infrastructure projects. This role is intended for a current civil engineering student seeking practical experience aligned with academic coursework and professional development goals.
Essential Job Functions
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Assist in the design and permitting of water-related projects.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering reports and supporting documentation.
- Support the development of construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Ensure adherence to standard engineering practices and proper documentation.
- Coordinate and interface with other engineering disciplines.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute assigned tasks in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Third- or fourth-year student enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering.
- Familiarity with relevant engineering codes and industry standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project).
- Prior internship or academic project experience related to water or civil infrastructure.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing computer-based work.
- Ability to perform light physical activity associated with office or occasional field tasks.
- Ability to use standard office and engineering software and equipment.
- Primarily an office-based environment with potential for occasional field visits.
- Standard office noise levels with intermittent exposure to outdoor conditions during site visits.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Employment Type: Internship (hourly).
- Work Location: Denver, Colorado.
- $24–$26 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
