Job TitleFinancial Aid Advisor II Agency Texas A&M University - San Antonio Department Enrollment Management Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationSan Antonio, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description Under supervision, this position will ensure the compliance of current and new procedures and/or processes are followed and adhered to in regards to federal, state, and institutional policies while making financial aid for students readily attainable and efficient as possible. In addition, this position will be responsible, for ensuring that excellent customer service is provided to students within the financial aid office. This position normally works Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. May work beyond normal office hours to include evenings, weekends, and peak time periods. Responsibilities: Provides financial aid information and assists students in accurately filling out forms and provides excellent customer service. Reviews financial aid awards to assure accuracy, completeness, and that the awards are in compliance with institutional and governmental guidelines. Verifies student financial aid eligibility, enrollment, and academic status using Banner. Assists the director in revising and/or approving the awarding of financial aid through the specific controls of program policy and guidelines. Makes adjustments if necessary for compliance issues and submits the corrections through mainframe correction process or as appropriate. Interprets and maintains knowledge of current federal, state and institutional policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to financial aid, student employment, and scholarships. Assists with the Return of Title IV process calculations. Monitors and processes daily and end of term unofficial withdrawal process. Assists with monitoring the over-award resolution process. Resolves over-award problems within Banner based on student receiving additional resources (scholarships and outside resources) after processing of initial award package. Works with director in returning student loans based on over-award resolution. Assist with Consortium Agreement process to ensure students who participate in a dual enrollment agreement are receiving aid in timely and efficient manner. Assists the director with reviews of professional judgment of student files, making adjustments as needed. Assists the director with the review of Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals and makes decisions regarding the validity of the appeals. Assists the director in development of policy and procedures related to functional responsibilities. Assists in training staff on updates and compliance issues. Compiles data for institutional, fiscal, federal, and state reports on student aid as needed. Coordinates and oversees the records management of student aid documents. Ensures proper filing, maintenance, and disposal of records according to law. Conducts in school financial aid workshops and/or makes presentations to local schools, organizations, and prospective students regarding student financial aid programs and processes Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree One (1) year of related experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of financial aid counseling, verification, rules and regulations Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Oral and written communication skills. Customer Service skills. Ability to work individually or as a team. Ability to organize and make decisions. Ability to relate well with a diverse student population.
