Who is the Texas Bankers Association?

The Texas Bankers Association (TBA) is the largest and oldest state banking organization in the country. Founded in 1885, TBA has grown and evolved over the years in fulfilling its mission to provide world class advocacy, education and products and services to approximately 400 member banks across Texas. A not-for-profit, 501(c)(6) entity, TBA also serves as the umbrella to three for-profit subsidiaries and a non-profit foundation – all totaling nearly 100 employees across the enterprise. As a key member of our leadership team, the Vice President of Events plays a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of our events and programming. This individual will lead the Events Department with vision and purpose, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and seamless collaboration across all departments.


In partnership with the President & CEO, the Vice President will oversee the planning and execution of TBA’s annual convention, as well as a variety of other events that support our mission and serve our members. Flexibility, leadership, and a passion for delivering exceptional experiences are essential for success in this role.


This position reports directly to the COO while working closely with the CEO.


Key Components of the Position:

  • Create and implement policies and procedures regarding event production with a focus on efficiency, revenue, and safety.
  • Responsible for overall management, communication, and production of event operations.
  • Provide on-site supervision of events and execution on event day.
  • Work with the Finance department on accurate event settlements.
  • Pursue innovative and strategic new programs to drive additional net revenue.
  • Ensure proper communication of event needs and requirements to all applicable partners, departments, and vendors.
  • Develop detailed event and production notes to ensure successful event execution.
  • Drive collaboration across the organization to identify needs and develop solutions.
  • Prioritize objectives and implement strategies to achieve organization initiatives.
  • Recommend short- and long-term goals and objectives related to the department to the COO.
  • Directly and indirectly manage department staff, providing leadership/mentorship.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications & Characteristics:

  • 7 – 10 years of experience in events.
  • CMP or CEM certifications preferred.
  • Previous knowledge or experience with project management software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to deliver messages clearly and succinctly.
  • Ability to manage projects across businesses, functions, and geographies and to build strong relationships with diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional clients focus and service ethics.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, forward-thinking, proactive.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of professionalism, flexibility, good judgement, and discretion.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to work extended hours, which may include evening and/or weekend event support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Travel to offsite locations up to 25 – 40%.
