Job Description
MPP product line offers high performance, innovative and cost-effective power solutions for a broad range of customer applications in enterprise, communications and automotive which include multiple phase DC/DC controllers, smart power stages, and sequencers. In MPP, our mission is to deliver the converter solutions which power large CPU, SOC, ASIC platforms in the rapidly expanding Enterprise Computing/Datacenter market. Target platforms include Intel, AMD, ARM, NVidia and custom ASIC/FPGAs from various vendors.
We are looking for an application engineer who has the passion and excitement to grow, innovate, take an active role in solving controller & Power stage technical challenges, create novel reference material for various CPU/ASIC power solutions, provide top-notch applications support to customers for various applications, defining next Gen multiphase controller & Power stage,. This is a fast paced, results driven environment that requires broad knowledge, creativity and excellent interpersonal skills on a daily basis. They then collaborate with the full IC development team (design, test, product engineers) to deliver products to the market which are compelling, competitive, cost-conscious, manufacturable, and importantly, successful in growing TI's business
In this role, you will be part of a strong and fast-moving team with opportunities to:
Design and build evaluation modules for Multiphase Controller & Power stage
Deeply involvement in the new product development with cutting edge of new Gen CPU/AI server power architecture.
Actively participate in hiring, developing and evaluating new hires / interns to develop their leadership skills
Collaborate with design, marketing and product teams to provide high value to customers
Provide technical support to assist customers to design with TI's Multiphase Controller & Power stage Power solutions
Write technical documents such as Datasheets, Application notes, etc.
Design, Develop and Debug EVMs to support various CPU/GPU/ASIC
Contribute to the next generation Multiphase Controller & Power stage specs definition by engaging with leading CPU/GPU/ASCI Data center solution vendors. Assess IC development tradeoff with design team
Key responsibilities include:
Answer customer questions and support design-in activities for released products by:
Debug of customer problems by re-creating issues in our evaluation boards and/or customer boards
On-site support for customer boards as required
Schematic and Layout Review of customer application
Forum and email questions from customers
Closed work with CPU/GPU/ASIC vendors to qualify the parts to PASS various AVL evaluation.
Generate SIMPLIS or PSPICE Models for the Multiphase Controller & Power stage products
Perform Bench Characterization for new product developments (NPDE), including bench automation, hardware design and develop test techniques, such as
Participate in new silicon testing from an application perspective to ensure robustness of the product (i.e. destructive testing)
Provide product recommendations, competitive position and analysis for customers
Participate in datasheet reviews to ensure completeness of datasheets in development by Systems Engineers
Design EVM and internal evaluation boards to support correlation and evaluation activities of new products
Train/Maintain the FAE's team knowledge of Multiphase Controller & Power stage in order to provide local timely support.
Write application notes and training collateral that explain different use cases, implementation and/or flexibility of multi-phase controller & Power Stage products
E2E support and FA
Qualifications
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, or related field
3+ years of relevant experience
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in applications support of power products
Solid hardware and software debugging skills
Strong technical background, with the ability to produce high quality technical documentation
Hands-on experience working on multi-phase controller & Power Stage product and solid understanding of power topology, such as DCAP+
Ability to create schematics using Cadence or Altium; experience in developing PCB design with parasitic analysis a plus
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills, and modeling skill(Simplis)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Software skills in any major programming language (e.g. Python, C#, LabView, etc.)
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE or related field
Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
