JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Hospital Resource Supervisor and the Director of Hospital Services, the Hospital Resource Coordinator (HRC) is responsible to represent TOSA in all regional hospitals to maximize the potential for organ donation. The HRC takes primary accountability for all regional hospital’s pm education regarding organ donation to achieve successful outcomes in donation that follow best practices. This is achieved through the collaborative efforts with our external and internal partners
WORK SCHEDULE: The Hospital Resource Coordinator is a full-time position. Weekly work hours are three shifts from 8 pm to 8 am alternating nights, rotating weekends and 4 hours of administrative hours during each week.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Review all open referrals/cases for hospitals in region at the beginning of each shift
- Plan out educational events and hospital visits in advance but also be able to reprioritize depending on events that may arise that require immediate attention
- Proactively identify educational opportunities in each assigned hospital, and partner with hospitals to conduct donation education at night
- Partner with Hospital Services Coordinators in region staff to provide donation education on the organ donation process to night staff depending on trends and strategic goals
- Provide organ donor case outcomes in person to hospital staff
- Lead donor debriefing and follow-up for continuous improvement
- Communicate regularly with hospital donation advocates and leadership
- Attend and participate in all required departmental and organizational meetings
- Engage hospitals to participate in the HRSA DoNation Campaign with assigned hospitals
- Document interactions timely and accurately within the OPO’s database.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years prior relevant work experience.
- Degree in healthcare (paramedicine, nursing, respiratory therapy) or related fields, hospital experience preferred.
- Ability to perform operational planning and focused strategy development to achieve organizational objectives.
- Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills; must be able to function well under potentially stressful circumstances due to the nature of the interactions required.
- Working knowledge of or ability to learn basic computer skills and electronic medical records.
- Experience with and ability to learn and apply problem-solving tools/methodologies.
- Valid driver license and proof of insurability for auto insurance, as some travel is required on a moderate to frequent basis (by personal or company vehicle, and/or commercial aircraft).
- Physical requirements include ability to lift at least 50lbs.
