- Manage budget, including expenses for staffing, maintenance, equipment, and supplies. Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Monitor operations, ensuring workload is completed by customer expectations efficiently, safely, and compliant with all applicable regulations
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to terminal operations, such as on-time performance, customer satisfaction, and revenue generation. Implement strategies to improve performance and achieve operational goals.
- Coordinate with the maintenance department to keep owned/leased trucks and trailers maintained, safe, and operating per federal, state, and local law while managing associated costs
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to ensure that the terminal facilities and equipment are well-maintained and operational. Schedule routine maintenance tasks and respond promptly to maintenance issues.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service to all internal and external customers. Address concerns, complaints, and inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Planning, organizing, and managing direct reports to ensure work is complete and consistent with the company's standards.
- Promoting safe work activities by conducting safety audits and attending company safety meetings
- Lead and manage direct reports, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Ensure that employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. This may include implementing safety procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing insurance policies.
- Foster open communication channels within the organization. Coordinate with different departments to ensure smooth workflow and resolve any issues.
- Leveraging technology software and systems to streamline operations, recruiting, and improve overall efficiency.
- Managing relationships with staff, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and cost-effectiveness.
Job Requirements:
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field, plus five years of prior management experience in operational roles or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough understanding of transportation operations, including logistics, scheduling, safety regulations, and customer service principles.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Knowledge of tractor trucks and trailers
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards
- Budgeting and financial management skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.
- Working knowledge of DOT information, programs, policies, and procedures preferred
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed while sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
