Job Title
Director of Advancement Services

Position Summary
The Director of Advancement Services coordinates and facilitates the University’s mission in the areas of advancement services: research, prospect management, donor stewardship, gift processing, database management, and other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Vice President for University Advancement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Directs and maintains a comprehensive and accurate fundraising database. Facilitates access and provides training on the database to other staff members.
2. Oversees stewardship of university donors, including the tracking and reporting of endowments.
3. Directs and manages procedures and documentation for gift processing and receipting. Maintains gift records in accordance with IRS and CASE standards.
4. Oversees development of a strong prospect pipeline to support fundraising needs of the University.
5. Identify and monitor a list of top prospects for university leadership. Discuss and encourage prospect strategies to encourage movement thru the development process.
6.Works as part of an integrated management team to establish overall goals and strategies for increasing private support to the University. Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
7. Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for University Advancement.

Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
Bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a fundraising environment in higher education.

Experience
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, as well as in-house software designed for Foundation and alumni tracking/programming.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge: Excellent knowledge in business communications and financial management.
Extensive knowledge of computer software experience including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, including filling.
Proficient use of multi-line phone system and standard office equipment.
Proficiency with an integrated administrative system and current software programs.
Fundamental knowledge of data retrieval.
Knowledge of fundraising methods and ethics.

Skills: Accurate and efficient data entry and typing skills.
Ability to adhere to university and departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadline with minimum supervision.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and office atmosphere.
Ability to provide and demonstrate excellent customer service and build rapport with constituents.
Ability to plan, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while working on multiple tasks.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of external constituents and colleagues.
Ability to maintain professionalism while working with diverse groups and in various situations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Ability to be discrete in handling confidential matters, while complying with privacy regulations.
Ability to maintain an organized workspace and filing system.
Demonstrate administrative ability to plan and execute programs and activities to secure cooperation from individuals and organizations to coordinate the activities of such individuals and organizations.
Ability to act independently and make decisions as require in the absence of the Vice President.
