What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at Tharp Cabinet Company?
Description
General Purpose: The Machine Operator produces cabinetry product that meets Tharp Quality Standards. Additionally, the Machine Operator supplies specialty product, manages raw panel inventory and cabinet parts WIP. The products provided by the Machine Operator must always maintain the tight dimensional tolerances specified in the Tharp Quality Standards manual.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Understand cut sheets and patterns.
- Ability to load cut patterns into computer.
- Ability to recognize parts being produced.
- Knowledge of the different wood species and melamine sheet goods
- Ability to work independently and maintain efficiency.
- Preventative and daily maintenance of machines (including tooling changes)
- Keep a clean and safe work area.
- Contribute to a Teamwork environment through communication and training.
- Specific functions as directed by the supervisor to facilitate training and effective output.
- Engage with Team and Technical Advisors to ensure safe and correct methods are used to facilitate requested output.
- Maintain a safe and quality based effort for any products that are processed.
- Develop skills and proficiency in production cell
- Process work in a timely, quality focused manner.
- Other duties as required
Requirements
Physical Activities and Safety: 90% standing, 10% walking - Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must strictly adhere to company safety policy, including, wearing safety glasses where required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Must display a proficiency on a minimum of two (2) machines
- Must have been introduced to all 6 machines (as defined on the Tharp Cross Training Matrix)
- Display a basic understanding of the information contained in the Tharp cut sheets and prints
- Attention to detail
- Appreciation for quality
- Display a baseline of understanding of the Tharp Quality requirements
- Ability to work in a team environment
Education or formal training: High School diploma or GED desired but not required
Licenses needed: N/A
Experience - Must have prior machine operator experience for 3 months or more
