Location: On-site responsibilities in Groton, CT

Job Description:

Draw upon your solid understanding of electro mechanical systems in the offshore environment to develop new products. Work with field operations to develop concept of operations and define system requirements. Follow the design process including concept proposals, hand calculations, CAD modeling, prototype build, and production release.

Develop electrical payloads, mounting PCB’s in sealed enclosures. Create wiring harnesses with dry and subsea connectors. Design larger structures such as buoys and winches. Work with the team to develop solutions to optimize autonomous vehicles.

Expert with engineering tools such as CAD, revision management, and FEA. Solid understanding of manufacturing methods to create practical designs. Hands on, in the details, setting the pace for the team and exemplifying solid designs. Work with a project manager to sequence engineering tasks, accepting some of them personally and assisting junior engineers to accomplish their assignments. Collaborate with production to ensure manufacturability.

Required Skills:

· Proven track record of creating complex mechanical designs from concept to production

· Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD – Or experience in similar program with willingness to become proficient in Inventor

· Manufacturing methods – Turning, milling, 3D printing, sheet metal, welding

· PDM Experience – Working on a team managing revision control for engineering designs

· Assembly – Hands on ability work with technicians to build prototypes

· Create documentation for building mechanical systems

Preferred Skills:

· Marine industry experience

· Work with unmanned systems

· Electrical troubleshooting / basic design / soldering

· Software programming

· System troubleshooting

· Ability to obtain a security clearance
