Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in home care, social work, or related fields, and will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities for residents, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor residents for any side effects or changes in condition.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences of the residents.
- Assist residents with mobility and transportation, including driving them to appointments or community activities.
- Engage residents in social and recreational activities to promote socialization and community involvement.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the residence.
- Document daily activities, incidents, and any changes in resident health or behavior accurately.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and other staff members to develop individualized care plans.
Experience
- Previous experience in home care, retirement homes, or personal care homes is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and first aid practices is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- A valid driver’s license is required for transportation duties.
- A background in social work or related fields will be considered an asset.
