What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Care Supervisor position at The Appletree School?
The Appletree School is in search of an energetic and dynamic Full Time After School Care Supervisor. The After School Care Supervisor is responsible for supporting age-appropriate academic and values curricula in a loving and safe environment. The After School Care Supervisor assists the School Director and Assistant Director in the daily supervision of staff and students in the afternoons. The After School Care Supervisor is also assisting in the classroom management including preparing supplies, cleaning, transitions and supervision. The After School Care Supervisor coordinates efforts with the teaching team to ensure proper student instruction and social interactions. The After School Care Supervisor is responsible for performing all professional tasks in a manner that exemplifies school standards of courtesy, values and service to families.
- Oversee the afternoon staffing for the aftercare program.
- Assist with the recruitment of afternoon staff for the aftercare program.
- Substitute in classrooms as needed in order to maintain teacher to student ratios.
- Maintain all operating standards as set by the Director.
- Assist the Director and Assistant Director with administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, handling lunch orders and other tasks as assigned.
- Assist Teachers with administrative tasks such as preparation of classroom materials, etc.
- Assist with answering the school phone and transferring to the appropriate classrooms and/or person.
- Respond appropriately and in a timely manner to parent concerns/requests.
- Be positive and supportive of parents as partners in education.
- Follow all state licensing standards as defined by Virginia Department of Education.
To succeed in this position you will need the following:
- High school diploma
- CDA certificate, working towards AA or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
- 2 years of experience in an early childhood environment
- Knowledge of developmental milestones and age appropriate practices
- Effective classroom-management techniques
- Effective leadership and team building skills
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Pass pre-employment screenings
