What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at The Arc Eastern Connecticut, Inc?
This Position is 10-15 hours per week and is in our Cook Hill/Danielson CT area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Honor one’s status as a mandated reporter.- Drives persons served on a daily basis to the work sites safely following established routes and schedules.
- Presents The Arc standard of a positive image in appearance and actions as stated in agency handbook.
- Complies with state and federal laws and standards governing the operation of a passenger vehicle, including acquisition of a Connecticut Public Service License, if required.
- Operates agency vehicles (up to 15 passenger van) and machinery if required; following all safety and legal regulations.
- Reports vehicle maintenance concerns to the reporting supervisor on a regular basis.
- Promptly reports potential safety hazards to the reporting supervisor and the appropriate person for correction.
- Reports any changes in participant status (health, safety, medical, behavioral) directly and immediately to GSE Director.
- Assists in maintenance of all Arc vehicles.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of driving experience, or any combination of lesser education and offsetting experience that is substantially equivalent to the above.
Human Relationships/Skills:
- Requires the ability to demonstrate initiative, good judgment and work as a viable team player.
- Be able to exercise tact, respect, initiative and good judgment in dealing with people.
- Flexibility to work with a variety of participants.
- Be flexible to meet program needs.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to obtain and maintain Public Service License and Rideshare approval.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, maintain appropriate personal vehicle insurance requirements.
- All trainings must remain current.
- Be able to perform moderate to heavy and repetitive activity levels; push, pull, bend, sit walk, climb, balance, kneel, reach, grasp as needed to perform tasks and assist individuals.
- Perform Physical Management Techniques when necessary.
- Be able to perform effectively within a variety of conditions as needed for work assignments; indoors, outdoors, open or confined spaces.
- Pass mandatory background checks and DDS Registry check.
