Position Type/Expected Hours of Work – This position is flexible to the needs of the organization with evening and weekend hours as required. General working hours are Monday - Friday, day hours. Some nontraditional hours required.
Qualifications - Associates Degree in Construction Technology, Industrial Trades, General Technology, and Engineering Technology is preferred, High School Diploma required. Knowledge of NYS Building Codes, Safety Codes. Experience in three of the following: plumbing, heating (gas, electric and boilers), electronics, carpentry, residential wiring and HVAC. Three years supervisory experience. Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States.
Summary/Objective - Responsible for ensuring that all agency buildings and grounds are maintained in accordance with regulatory bodies (OMH, OPWDD, NYS Education Dept., NYS Fire Safety Code, OSHA). Supervision of all maintenance. Ensure safety is foremost in operation of all equipment.
Essential Functions – Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
- Responsible for the supervision and scheduling of projects and repair work pertaining to all agency buildings and acreage owned or operated by The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence.
- Responsible for the supervision and scheduling of all maintenance personnel; this includes completion of job descriptions, evaluations, and recommendations for training.
- Responsible for reviewing and certifying as complete and correct, all contract work on agency property by Agency crews or independent contractors.
- Responsible for ensuring snow removal or lawn grooming at all sites owned or operated by the Agency in conjunction with purchasing.
- Responsible for recommending any capital renovations, equipment purchases and vehicle purchases.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining the inventory of all equipment and supplies utilized within the department.
- Provide training to assigned staff on minor repairs and maintenance.
- Responsible for participating on the agency Safety Committee or designating said assignment to responsible maintenance personnel.
- Perform or ensure that a daily safety inspection of your site(s) is conducted to minimize and address any possible safety hazards, and to ensure all equipment is being utilized safely and properly.
- Act as the liaison with regulatory bodies as it relates to physical plant issues.

Supervisory Responsibility – Supervision of all maintenance staff in St Lawrence County
Travel – Some travel throughout St. Lawrence County to manage all our physical sites. Agency vehicle is provided for this task.
Work Environment - This job operates in all sites throughout St. Lawrence County that are owned or leased by the Arc Jefferson-St. Lawrence to perform thorough inspections and monitoring of our physical plants. It also involves work in an office setting with the use of a computer, copier, fax machine, etc.
Physical Demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 30 pounds.
