POSITION OVERVIEW
The Outreach Specialist promotes NYSARC Trust Services, driving awareness for our programs, and generating growth opportunities in the WNY region. The Outreach Specialist represents NYSARC Trust Services at community and networking events, and serves as a liaison for the community and providers. Travel is frequent and required.
This position will report directly to the Director of Business Development. The Outreach Specialist will be required to learn and understand Supplemental Needs Trusts, pooled trusts, and means-tested government benefit financial and eligibility requirements in order to educate individuals on the unique benefits of our trust services compared to other pooled trusts, private trustees, and ABLE accounts. This will include providing guidance on understanding transfer penalty rules and how depositing funds after age 65 may affect eligibility for public benefits. Must build strong relationships within the community to reach legal professionals and providers to generate new enrollment opportunities.
A successful Outreach Specialist will be proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision. The Outreach Specialist should have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Additionally, the Outreach Specialist should also be skilled in the use of traditional and digital marketing tools, databases, and research methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide external outreach on behalf of NYSARC Trust Services to establish and maintain key relationships within designated territory to generate growth opportunities
· Promote outreach to a diverse and vulnerable population and travel to urban, suburban, and rural area
· Attend networking or other events to promote NYSARC Trust Services
· Exhibits and photographs at events, conferences and speaking engagements
· Organizes and presents community and professional trainings/seminars about pooled trusts
· Research and gain understanding of outreach targets in assigned service areas, develop outreach plans, and present results to the Director of Outreach and Community Relations
· Research and initiate proactive outreach to attorneys, service providers, and other professionals to attract new partners and grow existing relationships
· Works closely with Intake to support the onboarding/enrollment process for new beneficiaries
· May require occasional in-person or video conference meetings with prospects to complete new account enrollment
· Ensures organizational consistency in all aspects of communication including development, organizing and education
· Ensures that marketing materials contain useful and accurate information, are eye-catching and informative to attract potential beneficiaries, the legal and professional communities
· Create and send electronic communications to trust contacts, attorneys and other professionals
· Updates and manages trust contacts using Microsoft Outlook, CRM and ConstantContact to maintain and grow trust services mailing lists
· Submits advertisements for events, publications, websites, etc.
· Performs administrative duties to meet business development goals, such as organizing travel and tracking travel expenses
· Assists with research of potential expanded service market(s)
· Any other duties as deemed necessary by Trust Leadership and the Trustee/Management Board
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge:
Ability to analyze and strategize to provide outreach support and generate business expansion opportunities. Ability to develop/design/layout marketing materials. Experience using social media for marketing purposes is necessary. Understanding of web-site design and content development. Ability to understand the administration of Supplemental Needs Trusts and government benefit eligibility.
Skills:
Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as, strong public speaking skills. Requires the ability to develop and implement an outreach plan for existing and new Trust Services’ business. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher or similar software. Must have experience managing social media for marketing purposes. Experience working with Email Marketing tools and Microsoft Publisher a plus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· 4-Year Degree in marketing, social services, or a related field preferred. A 2-year degree with at least 2 years of outreach/marketing experience will be considered
· 2 plus years of experience working in business development and/or sales/marketing
· Experience exhibiting and/or attending professional events
· Strong communication skills and ability to cultivate professional relationships
· Experience with databases, contact management, and email marketing software
· Ability to travel and flexibility to attend evening and weekend events
· Knowledge of Supplemental Needs Trusts, pooled trusts, Medicaid and other government benefits a plus
· Established connections with network of disability support providers and/or Elder Law and Special Needs and Trust and Estates attorneys a plus
