What Is a Direct Service Provider (DSP)

Full Time Administrative Opening

Service & Support Coordinator

• Location: The Arc’s Downtown Location
• Hours: Monday – Friday Daytime Hours
• Job Summary: The Arc is seeking a Service and Support Coordinator to provide crucial oversight and coordination of services for children and adults with mental health needs.
  
  

In this vital role, you’ll conduct intakes, manage access to essential mental health services, and provide direct support to participants and their families. You’ll also collaborate with our dedicated team to leverage The Arc’s resources, ensuring outstanding service for those we serve. An associate degree in human services or other related field preferred; or commensurate experience. Clear verbal and written communication are essential to this position. Proficiency in MS Office, Windows and internet navigation, and prior experience in human services are highly desired. Some travel may be required.

Full Time DSP Openings

Day Habilitation DSP

• Location: The Arc’s Downtown Location
• Hours: Monday – Friday Daytime Hours
• Job Summary: Day Habilitation DSPs are responsible for direct care and supervision of individuals with disabilities. This includes providing oversight to participants to assist in the development of skills in the area of self-help, communication, personal care, self-advocacy, recreation, and other areas defined in the participant’s care plan. Finally, this position will serve as a role model for participants in a variety of community settings.
  
  

Must be at least 18 to apply. High school diploma required. Valid Driver’s License preferred. Experience working with persons with disabilities a plus. Candidates should have effective problem solving skills, leadership qualities and strong written/verbal communication skills and the ability to teach program participants daily living skills and competencies.

Part Time DSP Openings

Daycare DSP

• Location: The Arc’s Downtown Location
• Hours: Weekdays After School
• Must be at least 16 years of age
• A group setting providing daily recreational activities emphasizing social and interpersonal opportunities with a focus on community inclusion.
• Job Summary: When school is not in session, daycare is! Enjoy engaging with a group of participants in recreational activities, such as games, crafts, field trips, and our outdoor playground.

Group Respite DSP

• Location: The Arc’s Downtown Location
• Hours: Evenings and Weekends
• A group setting providing socialization and age-appropriate activities, with a focus on community inclusion.

Home and Community DSP

• Location: Individual homes and in the community
• Hours: All shifts available

Job Coaching DSP

• Location: Businesses in the community
• Hours: All shifts available
• One on one services that assist individuals in obtaining and maintaining community employment opportunities.
• Job Summary: A part-time Job Coach helps to support individuals with barriers to employment. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to play a key role in fulfilling our mission of making a difference in the lives of those with intellectual and related disabilities. The qualified candidate must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to represent The Arc of East Central Iowa in a professional manner at all times while developing and maintaining relationships with businesses in the community.
  
  

Desired candidate will have experience; working with individuals with intellectual and related disabilities, person centered planning, and can bring advocacy and teaching skills to support the individuals’ needs in community employment settings. Successfully mentoring individuals in the workplace, or customer service desired. Prior experience job coaching is a plus. This position is part-time. Hours vary to meet the needs of the individual’s work schedule.
