Direct Care Staff: Night Shift
General Description: The direct care staff is responsible for crisis line, monitoring activities of the residents, implementing house rules, overseeing the shelter operations, shelter security during evenings during the week.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Answer the crisis hotline, providing crisis intervention and ensuring that callers are provided a safe place.
B. Assess clients' immediate needs and refer to appropriate resource or use The Ark resources.
C. Complete intake procedure including all paperwork and settling family into the shelter
D. Ensure the safety and comfort of clients and shelter by enforcing fire and safety regulations.
E. Assist residents as necessary with personal items, food, etc.
F. Supervise and monitor the residents of the shelter in accordance with pre-set Cooperative Living Agreement.
G. Oversee the clients and their assigned daily chores, according to the Chores List.
H. Monitor the residents' activities and log on the Shift Report.
I. Complete Shift Reports and enter information into Osnium timely
J. Ensure the cleanliness of the shelter and office area.
K. Keep Intake packets made up for the following week.
L. Take inventory of the pantry each week.
M. Filing.
N. Must be able to work evenings during the weekdays and on Saturdays and Sundays.
O. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrative Program Director and/or Executive Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
A. High School Diploma or GED.
B. Experience in working with people and responsibility for decisions.
C. Crisis Intervention training or willingness to be trained in these skills.
D. Knowledge of First Aid or willingness to be trained in these skills.
E. Be prepared to work under stressful situations without direct supervision.
Screenable Job Requirements:
A. Willingness to train in areas of family violence and The Ark policies and procedures.
B. Willingness to undergo 10 hours of crisis intervention training and 40 hours of Sexual Assault Training
C. Willingness to work weekends.
D. Willingness to stay on the premises at all times during a shift, except to meet client needs.
E. Ability to provide their own transportation.
F. Ability to make decisions regarding house regulations without direct supervision.
G. Willingness to work with displaced families of violence.
H. Willingness to perform tasks outside the job description.
Supervision: The direct care staff is supervised by the Program Director and/or Executive Director.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $11.00 per hour
