Medication Technician

As a Medication Technician, your role and responsibility includes but is not limited to:

• As the shift leader the Med Tech sets the example for professional conduct and appropriate care delivery.
• Informs Care Director of all changes in resident condition, medications, incidents and all other pertinent information
• Completes proper and timely documentation for incident reports and observations
• Supervises care staff and ensure daily tasks are completed and breaks are taken on time.
• Requests orders/change in orders (with the approval of the Administrator)
• Safely dispenses medications to residents
• Medication Management to include, but not limited to: Ensuring residents medications are in stock and request refills as needed.
• Assists with resident physical care, meals and activities as needed.
• Communicates effectively with physicians, pharmacy, families, and other health care professionals.

Qualifications:

• One (1) year of experience assisting with medication at a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to operate computer and software programs.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong desire to work with the elderly and care for their needs.
• Possess written and verbal skills to interact and communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, physicians, healthcare professionals, residents, and their families.
• Must pass a Criminal Background check and Health Screening tests, including physical and TB Tests.

Requirements:

· Must be able to assist in the event of an unusual occurrence or emergency evacuation.

· Must complete state-required in-service training in mandated time frame.

· Ability to listen and communicate verbally and in writing in English.

· Complete TB test within 7 days of hire, and health physical screening within 30 days of hire.

· Complete Basic First Aid and/or CPR within 30 days of hire and maintain regular certification.

· Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or bend for long periods of time.

· Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs. and lift up to 50 lbs.
