We pride ourselves on our inclusive and welcoming workplace and celebrate the diversity of our employees.  We value all members of our team in a supportive environment in which everyone is treated with appreciation and respect and positioned to do their best work every day.   SUMMARY:  During the school year, the Center for Arts & Culture at the JCC of Greater Baltimore offers an array of classes in dance and theatre, ranging in ages from 3 to 15 on the Rosenbloom Owings Mills Campus. These classes include, but are not limited to, production-based programs such as our current musicals, improv acting, devised theatre, tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and more.    Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education, the ideal candidate is enthusiastic and has an appreciation for the performing arts, is prepared to be a role model, loves working with children, and has a can-do demeanor. Based on availability, performing arts assistants attend theatre and/or dance classes that require extra support.    Prior experience working with children and within dance or theatre is preferred but not required. PA’s preferably have after-school weekday and/or Sunday availability.    WHAT WILL YOU DO: Supervising students and keeping them on schedule, entertained, and safe in classes. This includes but is not limited to safely picking up and dropping off students to the onsite preschool; setting up and cleaning the studio for class; helping children navigate class and assisting the teaching artist with redirection and discipline; effectively communicating with the teaching artist to help find quick solutions when necessary; escort children to the washroom when needed; and so on. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for students and staff.  Represent the Arts & Culture when interacting with parents or community members. Participate in other JCC Arts & Culture events as needed. Participate in training, staff meetings, and special events.   Perform other duties as assigned. Staff must adhere to CTPC Policies as outlined below.   Center for Arts & Culture Enrichment Policies: Staff agree to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for classes and final sharings. The dress code is all black clothing with close-toed (preferably dark colored) tennis or appropriate to class dance shoes (ie ballet shoes for ballet, jazz shoes for hip hop or jazz, and so on). All people 16 years or older must present a PHOTO ID to access the campuses. Staff are background-checked with fingerprints on file. Staff are trained in preventing and detecting child abuse and reporting protocols. Staff are available to move supplies and equipment into or out of the building. Kitchens are not available for personal use.  Rooms/spaces must be left in the condition in which they were found.  All food given to children must be approved by the supervisor.  Staff and outside guardians will not be permitted to bring in any outside food to give to the children.  If a guardian or adult asks if they can, they must email the supervisor and/or the staff needs to inform the supervisor so they can be contacted directly.  The supervisor must receive all outside food requests 5 days prior. Staff will be always in the room and responsible for the well-being and safety of the children.  Decorations may not be nailed, tacked, or taped to the walls.  Exit doors must be always left unlocked and unobstructed.  Posting on walls or doors may be done using Blue Painters tape only.  JCC assumes no liability or responsibility for damage or loss of personal property of any kind whether brought into the building or while on the premises.  All such personal property, including motor vehicles, brought, or left on the premises shall at all times be at the owner’s risk.  Backstage staff agrees to indemnify and hold CTPC harmless from all claims for loss, injury or damage to any person or property will anywhere on the premises.  Please note that all CTPC locations are smoke-free and drug-free campuses. You, the Performing Arts Assistant, understand and acknowledge that this letter agreement does not constitute an agreement for employment or create any obligation of CTPC to offer you employment or future engagements.    WHO YOU ARE:  After school weekday and/or Sunday morning availability. Preferred 1-2 years of experience working with or supervising children, ages 3-12. Preferred 3-5 years of experience participating in dance or theatre program. Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to be flexible. Comfortable with Jewish culture. Experience or interest in performing arts.    PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is usually fast paced.  This job requires high energy and interaction with staff as well as with members, other agency staff, community leaders, and outside partners, vendors, others.  The workspace may be noisy at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.     COMMITMENT: Hours are flexible and vary. Preferred weekday hours are roughly from 3:30-5:45 PM Monday through Thursday, Sunday hours are roughly from 10:00 AM-12 noon. Preferred commitment through fall and winter sessions. Flexible and possible extension of hours if desire to work backstage for mainstage production. Required orientation and training before the session begin; exact dates and times are TBA.     COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Salary: $15 hr.   If Interested: Apply to this position via Dayforce.
