Responsibilities: Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to:
- Always maintain preparedness for safety and security emergencies regardless of other work assignments assisting school and personnel in carrying out emergency response protocols (Secure, Hold, Lockdown, Shelter, Evacuate).
- Ability to perform and respond to all safety sensitive work and situations
- Cooperate with school personnel in conducting and/or participating in regular emergency drills.
- Respond immediately to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, and incidents swiftly and appropriately.
- Communicate with other security officers for effective response, protection and coverage.
- Intervene to halt or prevent disturbances or other incidents and diffuse threatening or confrontational situations between students and/or others.
- Assist in restricting building and property access to only students, faculty, staff, and authorized visitors or vendors.
- During all types of daylight and nighttime weather (heat, rainstorm, snow, flooding) conduct traffic control by directing motorized vehicles and pedestrians approaching and departing the campus.
- Scan visitor/vendor driver’s licenses for nationwide check to prevent convicted sexual offenders from entering campus.
- Issue Trespassing Warning to unauthorized individuals found on campus. Utilize assistance from law enforcement when necessary.
- Check for locked and secure buildings during business hours, except at designated, monitored entrances.
- Monitor school buildings, grounds and the immediate surrounding area for safety and security issues utilizing foot patrols, observation from assigned permanent or temporary security stations, and use of video surveillance equipment.
- Make appropriate notification to security supervisor, or the responsible faculty/staff individual, via telephone, radio and/or verbal report of incidents as required.
- Assist school personnel conducting investigations for violations of school rules, policy, and other administrative regulations by interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, reviewing video surveillance recordings, and documenting findings in written and verbal reports.
- Produce school identification badges for faculty and staff, keeping accurate and up to date records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in traffic control, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, pedestrian safety protocols, and school zone regulations.
- The ability to remain calm and focus in high-pressure or stressful situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships and the ability to work well with a wide variety of people.

- Active-Duty Military Service Member: A copy of your active military ID card (front only) and copy of current orders.
- Military Veteran: A copy of your DD-214 (Member Copy - 4, Member Copy – 2, or NGB Form 22), a Certificate of Honorable Discharge, retired military ID card, or US Department of Veterans Affair card.
- Unarmed License – State of Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Non-Commissioned Security Officer (Level II)
- Provide a copy of DPS PSB Level II license
- Provide a copy of Level II Training Course certificate
- Armed License – State of Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Commissioned Security Officer (Level III)
- Provide a copy of your Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) DPS PSP-13 form, “Declaration of Psychological and Emotional Health”
- Provide a copy of your current Firearm Proficiency Certificate
- Provide a copy of your DPS PSB Level III license
- Provide a copy of your Level III Training Course certificate
- Level IV Personal Protection Officer
- Provide a copy of DPS PSB Level IV license
- Provide a copy of Level IV Training Course certificate
- Ability to walk or move around the school grounds to direct traffic and assist pedestrians.
- Requires regular physical labor including lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and operating tools and machinery.
- Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Work may be conducted indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
