Summary
The IT Operations Manager oversees and directs the day-to-day activities of The Berg Group’s IT department, ensuring that systems, services, and infrastructure work reliably and securely. The IT Operations Manager will develop and implement networks and servers, respond to user help desk requests, and monitor system stability and performance. Will work to build, beta test, and implement new innovative tools to deliver continuous improvement & operational excellence within the IT department at The Berg Group. The IT Operations Manager will work onsite at our Chaska, MN office.
Essential Functions
Primary Responsibilities/Duties
- Design, implement, and improve consistencies of internal communication, workflow, data management, and technology systems to create an effective internal operating system.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures regarding IT Operations.
- Optimization and automation of The Berg Group processes and technology stack.
- Be the subject matter expert and understand the roles and responsibilities of an IT Department.
- Monitor The Berg Group’s servers, networks, and computer systems for irregularities and performance issues.
- Administer and support the network infrastructure: server and desktop hardware, software, and applications; security management, backups, user account management, data management, email systems and internet access.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot problems and outages, schedule and implement upgrades. Respond to alerts and other duties as assigned.
- Manage contracts with vendors (e.g., development platforms, telecommunication companies, password managers) and software licenses.
- Resolve tickets from the IT Helpdesk and contact employees who need technical assistance via phone or email.
- Serve as first line of end user support face-to-face and supporting mobile and remote field workforce. Provide technical training to end-users as needed.
- Deploy new users and computers to network and administer accounts, permissions, and access rights. Install, configure, and maintain workstation hardware, software, and devices.
- Maintain computer systems and act as support if any system goes down.
- Install, configure, and upgrade PC software.
- Verification of backups.
- Maintain technical documentation and service catalog on installation of software, configuration of hardware and problem troubleshooting.
- Keep inventory of all equipment, software and license users.
- Create and manage IT budget with the Chief Financial Officer.

Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and analytical thinking, exceptional troubleshooting, research, and logic skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge with Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 & 2019.
- Experience and/or knowledge of Hyper-V, Veeam Backups, Azure, Office 365, iOS, macOS.
- Possess excellent problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
- Acts with a sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to absorb and retain information quickly; Proactive desire to learn and support new and emerging technology, systems, and applications. Be an independent team player.
- Possess the highest level of integrity in working with and accessing confidential data and systems.
- Bilingual is a plus!
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or technical degree in information systems related field and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- 5 years network or systems administration of a small – medium sized network of Windows servers, desktop systems, routers, switches, firewalls, printers.
- Microsoft certifications and other professional network qualifications, e.g., CompTIA, Network , Security , VMWare, etc. are valued and a plus, but not required.
Sedentary Work
- Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 - 15 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying.
- Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
- Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
Other Requirements
Some evening/weekend work is required.
Compensation Information
- Annualized Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000
- 401(k) with match, medical, dental, vision & PTO
