The Pipefitter A must have a minimum of 4 years experience as a craft Journeyman in the Construction/Maintenance Industry; must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, ISOS’s, field installations, take-offs, field sketches, and understand specifications. The pipefitter must also possess the ability to fabricate and install screw pipe, stainless tubing, carbon steel pipe, meter and fabricate all pipe/ install valves; install underground pipe; install pipe hangers and supports; install steam and heating beveling machines; basic plumbing repair; minor valve maintenance and repair; test piping systems; and acetylene cutting; basic rigging; operation of pneumatic and electrical tools; and leak test tubing systems. All jobs should always be inspected by a supervisor; must also be enrolled in the NCCER program.
