Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for garment construction and a strong understanding of sewing techniques. As a Tailor, you will be responsible for altering and repairing garments to meet the specific needs of our customers. You will also be required to consult with our customers on needed alterations as well as work with The Bunker team and with our computer systems to track your work. Your speed and skill will be crucial to accomplishing the mission to serve our customers.
Duties
- Perform basic and advanced alterations on various types of garments, including standard uniform attire, dress uniforms, tactical vests, jackets, and jumpsuits, ensuring a perfect fit for customers.
- Create small custom items according to customer uniform requirements, such as back support pads for duty belts, hobbles for correctional departments, and velcro pads.
- Perform work at a high speed while also maintaining excellent quality.
- Operate sewing machines and other equipment to complete sewing tasks efficiently.
- Utilize basic math skills to measure and calculate fabric requirements accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their needs and preferences.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Perform equipment maintenance and service tasks regularly.
- Operate computer system to track work.
- Read and follow written work instructions, and communicate with team members if work instructions are not clear.
Experience
- Proven experience in garment construction and alterations is essential.
- Proficiency with sewing machines and various sewing techniques is required.
- Basic math skills are necessary for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Previous experience in customer service, particularly within the first responder industry, is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
