Position Summary
The High School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective math instruction to students with a range of learning, emotional, physical, and mental disabilities; this includes planning and implementing lessons, assessing student progress, and collaborating with parents and colleagues to support student achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
- Develop and deliver engaging math lessons that meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Evaluate students’ abilities, strengths, and areas of improvement through formal and informal assessments to inform instruction and support.
- Teach students in whole-class and small-group settings, maintaining an organized and inclusive classroom environment.
- Grade assignments and assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents / guardians on academic progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents / guardians about students’ progress, addressing concerns and collaborating on strategies for student success.
- Work with individual students to challenge their abilities and promote skill development.
- Prepare students for standardized tests as required by the state, implementing test-taking strategies and accommodations as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Develop and enforce classroom rules and behavior expectations, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Implement and manage the behavior modification program, including maintaining tokens for each student during the class day.
- Supervise students outside of the classroom during non-instructional times, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
