APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM, APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

THEATRE AND DANCE - PART-TIME LECTURER POOL, DANCE PROGRAM. The Theatre and Dance Department, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturers in the DANCE Program. Positions are available as determined by need and funding during the Fall, Winter and/or Spring quarters of the 2024-2025 academic year, which begins September 16, 2024. Teaching assignments are contingent upon budget and enrollments. Duties may include teaching activity classes in ballet, ballroom, tap, modern, jazz, hip-hop, Pilates/conditioning, and/or folk dance; and/or lecture classes in Dance Appreciation (lower-division), or Cultural Influence on Dance in America (upper-division).

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2023, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5,007-$6,359
Lecturer B: $5,925-$12,594
Lecturer C: $6,500-$13,831
Lecturer D: $8,184-$14,487

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree is a minimum requirement for those teaching activity or lab sections. Candidates for lecture classes must have an advanced degree (MA, MFA, Ph.D.) and university-level teaching experience in Dance centered studies or Dance composition and technique.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to those with university-level teaching experience.
Ph.D. in Dance centered studies or allied fields or MFA in Dance composition and technique for lecture and upper division sections.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The Theatre and Dance Department is part of the College of Liberal Arts and provides educational opportunities for majors in Theatre, minors in Dance, and in both areas for students from all other campus disciplines.
