Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and mechanically inclined Building Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role involves hands-on responsibility for the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of facility systems with a strong focus on mechanical operations and preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate will have experience working with HVAC systems, motors, pumps, and other mechanical components, in addition to general building upkeep.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and perform mechanical repairs on building systems, including HVAC units, air compressors, pumps, motors, and ventilation equipment
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal operation of all mechanical and building systems
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, with a focus on resolving mechanical and system-related issues
- Conduct general maintenance tasks, including light electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and facility repairs
- Maintain an organized, well-stocked maintenance workshop and tool inventory
- Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized mechanical repairs when needed
- Support seasonal tasks such as snow removal, landscaping, and weather-related maintenance
- Track maintenance supply usage and notify management when inventory is low
Requirements:
- 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or facility operations
- Solid working knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, motors, pumps, and pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with basic electrical and plumbing repair
- Ability to read mechanical and technical diagrams is a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and safely use ladders and hand tools
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or GED preferred; technical certification or vocational training is a plus
