Overview:
The Carey School, a Pre-K to 5 independent school in San Mateo, California, is seeking Assistant Counselors to support our summer program, Camp Carey. It is the Assistant Counselor’s responsibility to support the Lead Counselor in facilitating a fun and safe camp experience for all participants. Your upbeat attitude, enthusiasm, and willingness to participate in all aspects of camp life will contribute to creating a positive and memorable experience for campers.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Counselor is accountable to the Auxiliary Programs Director and assumes all responsibilities as assigned.
- Assist the Lead Counselor in implementing hands-on activities and crafts
- Collaborate with other Assistant Counselors to lead outdoor group games
- Supervise campers during scheduled programs, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Engage with campers in a positive and supportive manner, promoting inclusivity and teamwork
- Help maintain a clean and organized camp environment, including equipment and activity areas
- Support the Lead Counselor in managing behavior and resolving conflicts among campers
- Participate actively in all camp activities and events, serving as a role model for campers
- Communicate effectively with camp leadership, fellow staff members, and parents/guardians as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Willingness to actively participate in camp activities and events
Additional Information:
- Position Type: Seasonal, Full-Time
- Pay Rate: $20-25 per hour
