Job Title: Criminal Justice Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Master's level mental health clinician to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team as a Criminal Justice Specialist. In this role, you will provide community-based treatment and advocacy services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system, with a focus on promoting mental health and well-being. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with clients, families, and stakeholders to provide comprehensive support and ensure successful community re-entry. Your expertise in evidence-based models and experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders will be essential in this position. Salary: Th e salary for this role is $65,000 per year.

Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Location Address: 151 Lawrence Street, 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.

Workplace Flexibility: Flexible - Staff have flexibility to complete their work day from home or another suitable space, typically after reporting to the office and/or engaging in field or community-based work.

What you will be doing:

• Provide at least 80 percent of treatment contacts in the community and complete expected minimum monthly treatment contacts, including leading groups when clinically indicated;
• Attend and participate in daily team meetings to discuss clients’ clinical and case management issues and needs;
• Complete documentations required by the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s (DOHMH) licensing guidelines, NYS Medicaid billing guidelines as well as per CASES ACT Policy and Procedures;
• Liaise with other stakeholders who are involved in clients’ justice involvement (e.g. Correctional Health Services, defense attorney, judge, court diversion programs, etc) to advocate for client care and services;
• Collaborate with client’s support network and other service providers on treatment planning, service coordination, and case management support with the goal of promoting client’s recovery and stability in the community;
• Provide clinical services that are anti-racist, gender-responsive, culturally humble, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, client-centered, and evidence-based.
• Complete required documentations and toxicology tests for clients with active Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) order;
• Provide 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services on rotating basis;
• Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and practice.
  
  
  

What we are looking for:

• LMHC, MHC-LP, LMSW, LCSW, with current New York State license;
• Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, and/or co-occurring substance use disorders;
• Experience with various evidence-based models pertaining to treatment of substance use, and mental illness;
• A team player, highly organized and self-motivated;
• Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
  
  
  

Preferred skills but not mandatory:

• Experience working with individuals involved in the criminal legal system;
