What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Nurse position at The Chestnut Hill School?
The Summer Camp Nurse will oversee the health and wellness of approximately 275 campers each day (ages 3 to 14) and about 100 staff members. This position is full day (40 hours) from June 22nd through August 21st (9 weeks). The nurse will be responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the camp community through sound health promotion and practices, while complying with MA Department of Public Health Regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide routine daily care and administration of OTC and prescribed medications.
- Provide emergency care to all campers and staff when needed
- Communicate with parents any missing information needed for compliance
- Maintaining daily medical log records and reporting any camp incidents to camp director
- Maintaining a well-stocked infirmary and prepare First Aid kits for groups, camp field trips
- Following camp standing orders for nurse and communicating with Camp Physician as needed
- Performing other job-related duties
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Familiar with life threatening allergy protocols
- Committed to working in and fostering an inclusive community

- Work collaboratively and independently
- Maintain an enthusiastic and positive presence to all campers, staff and families
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and risk management skills
