What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIEUTENANT (Correctional Complex) position at The County of Adams?
MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
“The mission of the Adams County Adult Correctional Complex (ACACC) is to protect and serve the residents of Adams County and the general public by providing progressive and comprehensive correctional and rehabilitative services.”
PURPOSE:
As the Lieutenant you will be responsible for the supervision of staff in the security and operation of the facility as set forth in the Policy and Procedures and other applicable directives of the ACACC. In the absence of the Warden, or the duty officer as named by the Warden, you will serve as the Shift Commander assuming full command of the complex.
This position is classified as Essential Personnel and as such must report to work regardless of the weather conditions.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The primary function of this position is to oversee the daily operations of the facility to include safety, security, and the supervision of subordinate staff and the inmate population.
HOURS OF WORK
Works a 12 hour shift, 3 days one week, and then 4 days the next. Could be AM or PM rotation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION
1. High School diploma or GED.
2. At least 2 years’ experience as a Corrections Officer in a prison setting.
3. Bachelor’s degree in an applicable subject (criminal justice, psychology, sociology, drug and alcohol treatment, etc.) helpful.
LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)
1. Valid driver’s license
2. PA Department of Corrections Basic Training Certificate
